Hey guys!
10 days............But who's counting!!!!!!!
This blog entry will be vague because this week will probably change often,
I am not going to list the work for the days, so if your child is absent, call the office to get the daily work.

I have some exciting news........... Thanks to Mrs. Chang, she has offered her house for our end of the year party! The party will start at 2:30 at her house. I will send home directions soon. What I will need are volunteers to help chaperone and to bring items. I need:

This promises to be the bash of the year!!!!!! I hope that all students can attend. We want to celebrate the great year and all our successes!!!!!!

Monday will be the 1st-4th awards ceremony. Come join us in celebrating the students who will receive awards!

Friday will be the 8th grade carnival starting at 10:00.

The weekly work will change so my students need to write in their planner daily

Our field trip to Mariposa was a blast. My students were so well behaved, too!!! What an experienced- they learned a lot (so did I )!

COUNT DOWN TO SUMMER HAS BEGUN!!!! YES- 7 WEEKS!

FRIDAY is our Communion Service at The Hampshire and the place across the street (it has changed its name and I have forgotten it oops!) This service is a little tricky because we have to break the class and do two services at the same time. I will need a parent or parents to run one of the services for me. I will practice with the children so all that parent will have to do is supervise.

Dear 4th graders and parents

I am so proud of you! Our trip to visit our pen pals was a great success!!!!! Your behavior was excellent. Our pen pals had so much fun. This will be a trip that will never be forgotten!

This is a short week - Thursday is Holy Thursday and a 12:30 dismissal. We are off Good Friday. Please remember to get to Mass this weekend!!!! Next week we are off to enjoy Easter and the beautiful spring weather!

Well, It's that time again-Conferences! Please remember that each conference is 15 min. and I have to keep to a tight schedule because of the number of conferences I have each day. I am glad that we have a second set of conferences towards the end of the year, so that we can discuss your child's growth and what they can work on over the summer to be ready for 5th grade. I will be sending 2 letters home about our upcoming field trips -- these letters are also permission slips. Please cut the bottom off, so you can keep the top with the info about the trip. We have lots of fun planned ---- I can't wait.
BEHAVIOR, CONDUCT, AND EFFORT lately has been really been below average. Many of my students have been talking and been out of their seats which not only keeps them from finishing their work, but keeps others from doing so. Yes, I know that spring fever has hit, but school isn't slowing down. It is speeding up. Some students are going home with lots of work to finish. I have been watching and so many are talking when they should be working. I give plenty of time to get the work done, but they are not completing their assignments. I would talk and encourage them to stay on task so they don't have so much to do after school. I try to survey the students and when the average student is completing the work, I do send it home to finish. If your child is coming home with a lot of work, you need to talk to your child about what they are doing during work time. I know that with your help and support this could improve! Thank you to those parents who support what I am doing in school to help your child. If you have questions or concerns, please contact me first before going to the principal----she has enough on her plate.

Hey 4th graders--- Hope you enjoyed your four day weekend---- I sure did!!!!!!!
This is another short week!

This week our class will be performing Stations of the Cross on Friday 2-19-10 at 8:00 AM after prayer. Please come and experience the realistic stations . It is very moving to see people carrying their challenging crosses like Jesus did. This will really open your eyes to the suffering of others around the world.

A missing work sheet will be sent home if your child is missing any work. They will be given until Thursday- no later- to get the work in. If it is turned in after the date the work will given zero credit. Even though the work is late, your child needs to be responsible to get it in. Please make sure they do this!!!!!! It is a hard lesson to learn, but a very valuable one.

DAILY HOMEWORK: read each night (even on weekends) and do F.I.M - if you can't do the computer , please have them work on flashcards for 15-20 min each day!!!!!

MARIPOSA TRIP is scheduled for April 29, 2010 and is a full day!!!! We probably won't be back until 3:30 Pm. I have added a gold panning activity which will cost each child $4. Each parent who will attend will need to pay $4 per place we attend- so $8 each parent. I will need chaperones and drivers for that day. I will be sending home a permission slip very soon!

We are planning a trip to visit our pen pals in Los Banos in March- the trip may include a movie with the children at the theatre. More info to come

Service porject- trip to visit our pen pal class in Los Banos - possibly in March- drivers needed! A letter will be sent home ASAP when I get a date approved!

Mariposa Trip- possible trip in April. If parents want to go they need to have been fingerprinted and have gone through safe environment training to go- even if you want to go and not chaperone or drive---- no EXCEPTIONS! Progress reports- They will go this Thursday. There should be no surprises if you check OptionC regularly. Grades have gone down which they typically do this Quarter. This is due to the transition for 5th grade. I am encouraging independent learners, and this can be difficult at first.

Welcome 2010!!!!!!! Yeah!!!

Welcome back 4th graders. I hope all your Christmas wishes came true. I hope that you had a great vacation and time with your families! It is 3rd quarter, and It is time to transition to being 5th graders. We will be working really hard, but I know that you CAN DO IT!!!!! I hope that everyone has been working on math facts and daily reading----- Well get to it if you haven't done it yet, ha ha!!!!!

Red Cards- red card policy will change from 5 to 4 red cards in a week before a detention. The biggest red card violations are not getting your planner signed every night and not doing a homework assignment on time.

Homework/ classwork board--- I will still write the work done on the board every morning , but it will be your resposibility to check their planners to see what work needs to be done and what books should go home every night. This is something that most students do already and haven't missed work. Please remind your child to this each day and please check planners BEFORE you sign to reassure them that they have been responsible. ALSO I will lock my door before I leave each day, and the janitor will not open the door if your child has forgotten anything. This is a learning opportunity that will help them when they get to 5th grade.

Welcome to the 3rd week of ADVENT!!!!!

This will be an exciting week. I know that it is hard to wait and students are getting anxious, but the behavior still needs to be under control. My students have been very busy and talkative. Please remind them of the rules : stay in your seat, raise your hand, and transition from task to task quietly and quickly so we can get our work done in class.

The end of the quarter is this Friday, so please check option C ASAP to ensure that all the work is in. Also because of the behavior challenge conduct has slipped. Please remind them to be on their best behavior all week!!!! We want their conduct grades to go up.

MANY OF YOU DO NOT CHECK THE BLOG!!!! It is a great way to see what is coming up so you can plan activities around school work. It is a great communication tool for you and your child so that when you check their planners you can make sure they have completed their daily assignments. If you read this please write a note in their planner and your child will get to choose a prize from the treasure chest!!!!!!!

Hey 4th graders!!!!

I really want to compliment you on your excellent behavior on our field trip to the mission!!!! I was so impressed. The trip was very fun!!!!!!!

This week is another busy week.
Wednesday is the thanksgiving program at the St Patrick's parish hall. The students need to be at the hall by 6:10 PM. The students need to wear jeans and a bright colored shirt (any color but it needs to be plain- no words or pictures) if the girls want to wear a jean or other type of skirt that would be fine too. We have been practicing for some time, so please come and see our production!

Thursday is an all school FREE DRESS! Let's show our school spirit and wear blue and white!!!!!!!

Please remember that when we come back from break the Mission projects are due. The students will be giving an oral report on their mission. Keep the presentation under 5 minutes. Follow the hand out and give information regarding the questions given on the hand out. I am very excited to see what the kids come up with!!!!!!

When we come back from vacation, we will be having a penance service. Please talk to your child about the importance of this sacrament. We all make mistakes, so this is the time to start fresh.

Many of the students are running low on supplies. Please bring in more binder paper, pens( permanent pens are ok if they bring in tape white out), pencils, flash cards, and graph paper for math. If you would like to donate items to the class, any of these items would be great!

Hey guys!
I have sent home a letter to informing parents about who will be chaperoning the 4th grade mission trip. Remember if you will be going with us (on the bus , and/or driving up) you will have gone through safe environment training and have your fingerprints done and on file with the school. Another letter will go home to give the extra details about the trip soon.
